In Memorium
It is with sadness that I report our friend, mentor, and business partner, Carla Allen, passed away after a two-year long battle with mesothelioma. For much of the time she was fighting this illness, she had family with her both locally and from out of state, and was surrounded by loved ones until the end.
I feel enormous gratitude for the time I got to spend with her. Even through the challenges she faced in the past year, we had fun working together. I got to hear so many stories of her experiences with her clients. She really loved all of you, and it was easy to see why. Most of her clients started as business relationships, but then turned into friends.
The flood of calls and emails that have come in from people all over the country that have been impacted by her in such meaningful and positive ways, was overwhelming. Phrases that kept coming up are inspiring: Carla was a “powerhouse”, a “force of nature”, “always put her heart into what she did”, “a joy”, “a ray of sunshine”, “a rare gem”, and “a truly amazing woman”. So many people have come back and simply exclaimed “our hearts are broken, we loved her.”
Every time I see these sentiments, I see the quote Carla had framed and given many of us in 2016 from author Andy Andrews: “When confronted with a challenge, the committed heart will search for a solution. The undecided heart searches for an escape.” Carla definitely went through life with a committed heart, and I hope this is one of the many positive attributes of hers that we can all continue to embody.
As Carla intended, we are still here to serve you for all of your real estate needs.
